The roda (Pt. circle) is the center stone of Capoeira and the place to be for every capoeirista. The roda is where you can test your skills and learn from watching advanced capoeiristas play against each other.
A roda generally consists of musicians playing instruments, spectators claping and singing and the practioneers. However, the distribution of these roles is dynamic. Throughout the course of a roda, each capoeirista can hold any role. A roda is always led by a senior capoeirista. This leader usually the lead instrument, which is the Gunga- Berimbau. Playing in the roda is a great experience, although it might be a little intimidating at first.
